Most patients tolerate microneedling very well. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to keep you comfortable throughout. During the procedure, you may feel mild pressure or warmth — but significant discomfort is uncommon.

How much downtime is there after microneedling?

Most patients experience 24 to 48 hours of redness and mild sensitivity following treatment — similar in appearance to a moderate sunburn. Makeup can generally be applied the following day. There is no significant social downtime.

 

How many microneedling treatments do I need?

For general skin improvement and maintenance, one to two treatments per year may be sufficient. For more significant concerns like acne scarring or deeper wrinkles, a series of three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is typically recommended.
